Because some Spiritualist churches / organisations have cut out the Lords Prayer, should they cancel Christmas all together - indeed do they already?
What about in private, do all these people still go to other churches with their families - how can they refuse - and is this hypocritical?
How sad that political correctness has gone so far, I wonder if this is why there are so many Independent churches in the UK ...?
...thinks ... must count how many churches in the directory "the Signpost" on the 'Reading List' ... umm ....

I, along my first spiritual tutor, run a
Spiritualist church in our town, and as booking sec I have the task of booking
speakers for our service every Tuesday. Believe me its a thankless task, and
the speakers I've had at our church need to be seen to believed, some are no
more psychic than my left toe nail. Over the years I've rooted out the so
called mediums and have come to the conclusion that there are a lot of people
out there who THINK they are mediums, but in fact there are very few who can.

Well, you've hit a nerve here with us!
My husband Donald ran a church in Yorkshire for
years, and always said that the congregation vote with their feet!
Good mediumship will attract good congregations!
However ...
If they all want is psychic stuff - and they don't
know the difference between good and bad mediumship, then the shallow is going
to please, and those unqualified 'mediums' will continue to get work.
The only way forward is to educate the congregation
i.e. explain what the difference between a psychic and a medium truly is, and
then they will be able to judge for themselves.

What do you expect in the way of
service from your local spiritualist church?
Perhaps you don't have a Minister available for
celebrations?
Both I and my daughter were married in the local
Spiritualist Church. And recently our grand-child was 'named' in our Church,
but it seems to NOT be a regular occurrence!
Why is this?

Dear Stella,
My local spiritualist church does have a Minster for
celebrations but these are few and far between because I think that
spiritualism is practised by a small minority and you have families where maybe
only one person is a spiritualist.

This is true; we are a mixed bunch
in our family too, although I find that Spiritualism is quite spreading amongst
us all, and I know that the more it is discussed the faster it spreads!!
What are you doing to spread the word out there?
Our families should be the ones we CAN talk to about
our personal beliefs, don't you think?
I know it's easy for me to say because I am a church
speaker, and everyone probably knows that by now ... but I too have
reservations about witnessing.
No matter where I am, when the subject always seems
get around to my 'Sunday job' in casual conversation, I know it can only be
spirit working hard for us all!

Mainly the reason that we don't
see so many ceremonies in the Spiritualist Churches is [I think] through the
years Spiritualism has never been openly in the public forum, so there are
mostly members who have come from other churches and so go back to them for the
‘hatched matched & dispatched’ times.
Should we teach this official religion in the
schools?
WE ARE SANCTIONED BY THE STATE.
The Church of England and Spiritualism are the only
two churches that are, this is because the law changed to stop the prosecution
of mediums after the last World War. The 'Vagrants Act' was repealed.
We are not illegal any more, therefore we are legal!
None of the other religions can say this in the UK.
Think about that!

at my local SNU church and i am confused as to how to know whether i am getting
messages from spirit or its my own imagination? When i am asked to try a
reading using psychometry or using an object my mind goes blank! Can anyone
help please?

Yes!
This is a very common question from students!
First say a prayer of protection. E.g. “Dear Lord,
please protect us / me from any harm in this class / meditation / experiment.
Amen.”

The doubts about a picture reference you are getting
being your thoughts or spirit inspiration in the circle meeting perhaps can
easily be confirmed by asking for a different picture/symbol. A good one I tell
my students is to ask for a really outlandish object to come foreword, then, if
you get a picture of a purple kangaroo you know that you didn’t think that one
up on your own! [And you know you have a friend talking to you with a sense of
humour!]
When we are receiving from spirit [in a circle, or
anywhere else for that matter] it takes a bit of practice to know the
difference between ‘them’ and ‘us’!! We all need to get to know our contacts in
the other world so as to build up a relationship – just the same way you would
in ordinary life. After all we don’t just trust anyone to tell us anything,
anywhere, do we?

We all think we must be imagining it, so DON’T WORRY
because it does make it harder for the spirit people to get through.
Explanation. When we have a lot going on in our heads [thoughts] it causes a
sort of electrical interference.
Part 2.
The ‘blankness’ is due to trying too hard! We cannot
force this wonderful experience, so use the "The Silver Screen"
technique which is described on the Lessons Section.
Picture the lights going down and wait for the
projectionist to start the film - patiently – in other words you are in
receiving ‘mode’!

Dear Stella,
The most useful part of the script was not to try too
hard and question what i got.
Last Saturday at awareness class we had to meditate
and see what messages we received for the group. When it was my turn I got up
and trusted what I received and with help from our medium regarding what
questions to ask spirit I passed on some relevent information for two people.
During this I felt a tingling band of pressure around my head.

If this happens again when you start to prepare for
receiving information - you have a very useful tool.
I have this indicator too when 'tuning in' to the
spirit world.
The explanation for this sensation is that the
vibrational rate of thought sent from the spirit world changes as we
deliberately connect.
This change can be measured by electronic instruments
and is called the alpha / theta state i.e.the state of clairvoyance.
