THE MANY ALTERED STATES OF CONSCIOUSNESS:
1. Scientifically Measurable Altered states of Consciousness
The
following are the types of altered states of consciousness with the
associated brainwave frequencies as recorded by instruments in a
scientific laboratory.
Alpha 12.39 ~ 9.9 Hz) Start of Meditation
Low Alpha 9.89 ~ 8.2 Hz Inspiration / Mental Mediumship / Clairvoyance etc.
Alpha/Theta 8.19 ~ 7.7 Hz Light Trance / Overshadowing
High Theta 7.69 ~ 7.1 Hz Partial Loss of Awareness
Theta 7.0 ~ 4.9 Hz Further Loss of Awareness
Low Theta 4.89 ~ 4.3 Hz Deeper Trance
Theta/Delta 4.29 ~ 3.9 Hz Out of Body Feeling
High Delta 3.89 ~ 3 Hz Spirit Guides Controlling
Delta 2.9 ~ 1.5 Hz Passive Body
Low Delta 1.49 ~ 0.5 Hz Full Deep Trance
Panning 0.49 ~ 0.01 Hz ? Where Have You Gone?
2. Psychic Abilities
Did you ever feel as if there was
someone there behind you - and yet there wasn't?
Have you ever picked
up the phone and knew who it was before they spoke?
Can you go into a
room and just know there is an atmosphere?
Well, these are the feelings you get when you are in an altered state of consciousness ...
Our
pets have a very much more heightened sense of the psychic don't they?
It is a well know fact that wild and domestic animals run from
disasters a long time before humans - they just seem to know what is
coming!
Why is this do you
think? If the animal brain is part of our own prehistoric makeup, as
the scientists tell us, then we might begin to understand that having
this extra ability is not so surprising, is it?
We can learn through meditation / concentration / letting ourselves get in touch with our inner being, to bring out this ability if we so wish, it's called Awareness and Development.
3. Mediumship / Communications
The
words "clairvoyance" and "psychic" are often used to refer
to many different kinds of paranormal sensory experiences. The difference between the two names is simply this; the psychic medium does not communicate with the spirit world, only this physical one - which means that they 'link into' each person through their auras. Whereas the clairvoyant medium links directly to the spirit world in order to get information that is otherwise unavailable to the physical world / person, for evidential purposes.
However, there are a
total of five psychic abilities based on these five senses - seeing, hearing,
smelling, tasting, and feeling - plus the sixth sense of claircognizance that
exist.
Clairsentience ( touching / feeling - I remember this as the fingers are sensitive)
In the
field of parapsychology, clairsentience [From the French clair, “clear,”
+ sentience, “feeling,” ultimately derived from the Latin clarus, “clear,” +
sentiens, derived from sentire, “to feel”] is a form of extrasensory perception wherein a person
acquires psychic
knowledge primarily by means of feeling. In addition
to parapsychology, the term also plays a role in some religions.
For example:
clairsentience is one of the six human special functions mentioned or recorded
in Buddhism. It is an ability that can be obtained at advanced meditation
level.
Generally the term refers to a person who can feel the vibration of
other people. There are many different degrees of clairsentience ranging from
the perception of diseases of other people to the thoughts or emotions of other
people. The ability differs from third eye in that this kind of ability can not
have a vivid picture in the mind. Instead, a very vivid feeling can form.
Psychometry is related to clairsentience. The word stems from psyche and metric,
which means "to measure with the mind". Psychometry is on the psychic level as the name implies, it is the touching of an object and 'feeling' what it has 'to show'.
Clairaudience (hearing/listening)
In the
field of parapsychology, clairaudience [from late 17th century French clair (clear)
& audience (hearing)] is a form of extra sensory perception wherein
a person
acquires information by paranormal / spiritual auditory means. It is often
considered to be a
form of clairvoyance. Clairaudience is essentially the ability to hear
in a paranormal manner, as opposed to paranormal seeing (clairvoyance)
and feeling (clairsentinance).
Clairaudient people have psi-mediated
hearing - which means a psychic meditational hearing in other words spiritual!
Clairaudience
may refer not to actual perception of sound, but may
instead indicate impressions of the "inner mental ear" similar to the
way many people think words without having auditory impressions. But it
may
also refer to actual perception of sounds such as voices, tones, or
noises
which are not apparent to other humans or to recording equipment.
For
instance,
a clairaudient person might hear the voices or thoughts of the
spirits
of persons who are deceased, this is one of the ways that evidence is given to them.
Clairaudience is NOT the voices heard by the mentally ill, who have a chemical imbalance correctable by medication.
True clairvoyance reveals information
unavailable to
the clairaudient person by normal means - including cold reading or
other magic tricks which are 'psychic' or paranormal - and thus may be termed spiritualistic in nature.
Clairalience (smelling)
In the
field of parapsychology, clairalience [presumably from late 17th century
French clair (clear) & alience (smelling)] is a form of extra-sensory perception wherein a person
acquires psychic knowledge primarily by means of smelling. [The oders of cigarette smoke, or a favorite perfume are commonly used to evoke a person or a memory, by the spirit beings - Stella]
Claircognizance (knowing)
In the
field of parapsychology, claircognizance [presumably from late 17th
century French clair (clear) & cognizance (knowing)] is a
form of extra-sensory perception wherein a person
acquires psychic knowledge primarily by means of intrinsic knowledge. It is the
ability to know something without knowing how or why you know it.
This could be from the unconscious mind - a semi trance state of wakefulness i.e. when 'looking for inspiration' in a waking work context, or in the induced state of meditation from the spirit world.
Clairgustance (tasting)
In the
field of parapsychology, clairgustance is defined as a form of extra-sensory perception that
allows one to taste a substance without putting anything in one's mouth.
Those who possess this ability are able to perceive the essence of
a substance from the spiritual or ethereal realms through taste, often food or the sea air, perhaps wood smoke etc.
Stella's Comment: All these are very hard to prove to a scientist !
What does all this mean?
It means that brain waves are measurable in these different states of altered consciousness, and so clairvoyance is measurable.
I
know that with practice and experience when in any altered state it is
quite simple to switch between Low Alpha and Alpha/Theta, this
switching is used on the platform to change between Clairvoyance and
Philosophy - not just where overshadowing is used. For instance if I am
getting a fading 'image' I can go deeper into the 'state' and the
definitions is then usually better.
With experience people in the congregation can see the difference in the body language of the speaker, and any mediums watching can actually see the guides changing over 'shift'!
I
have been pleased to have information of this kind from mediumistic
strangers in the congregation, kindly giving descriptions of guides and
helpers quite clearly.
This
is very welcome confirmation [for all concerned] of those people I know
to be my guides or helpers in the spirit world, this sort of
information is particularly nice, because the medium seldom gets
communications of that kind in a church service from other mediums,
mainly because guides and helpers are not considered evidential.
Why
is this not evidence? The guide person would have to have a description
recorded somewhere - and very famous historical figures are regarded as
suspect for obvious reasons too!
But
there are exceptions; for example I know of an historical figure, whose
life was made into a film, and because I was going through a very
similar experience to that described in her life story I had sent
thoughts out to her in my meditation time. A week or so later
a medium came to me in church and described her- so that I would know
who she was - and then me some very kind thoughts! This is good
evidence that no prayer is ever unanswered!
The difference here is that nobody else in the church knew what or who the communications was about.
