WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE WAR IN THE MIDDLE EAST? by Stella Rodgers August 2006 What is the spiritualist's attitiude to this very emotional subject? Is it all just ‘karma’? Are we pre-destined to go through these dreadful experiences, again and again? Are all our efforts to bring about a better life just “‘shuffling deck chairs on the ‘Titanic’”? This is not the Spiritualist Philosophy. No! Is this war this time, going to lead to the nuclear holocaust that ends it all? Was this planet made to be destroyed by human kind? Would that be the triumph of man over God? No! In the grand scheme of things we have only been here such a very short time, and yes, scientists say the planet has destructed itself without our assistance numerous times before in its history. So maybe we are putting too much importance on our own part, although there is not doubt that we are hurrying it all along with the draining of resources, and perhaps the odd nuclear bomb! Is your view that the countries at war need to just stop squabbling and grow up? It took the UK a very long time to be just that! Grown-up. [A matter of opinion there!] The history of the United Kingdom, as we learn in our schools, was at war for centuries in order to bring about the integration of a nation. The second Great World War was a lesson that had to be re-learned after the First World War - so we in this country must not look down on the troubles other countries are struggling through from too loftier a height. We need to remember that other countries are still going through their stages of progression, and they in their turn point out that we still have not settled the war just off our own shores in Ireland. Yes, it’s not just individuals that are in a progressive state; whole countries acting as one mass are also a living organism, facing the physical state of flux, and the spiritual development of holistic harmony. The birth of the State of Israel only started after that last Great War, so how could we expect this child to grow up in so short a space of time? No, I am not encouraging anyone to think of the participants as children, that is too simplistic, what I am saying is that the smallest parts in time coalesce into the greater entity, and looking at it the holistic healing way, the ‘great plan’ is the whole planet working towards this state. So what is the answer? When we take into account the state of mind needed to arrive at wanting a harmonious existence with all our neighbours, how do we construct the format to bring this about? What do we need? - Nutritional where-with-all to feed the physical mind – our ‘Welfare State’ was only one method.
- A level of mental education for all, thus allowing the establishment of a system to allow the best God-gifted minds to rise to the positions of influence – ours is democracy, others might prefer a different one.
- Asking for assistance, getting over the pride problem. I.e. Spiritual help, which in turn means the admission that the spiritual world exists both here and ‘beyond’. So understanding in our deepest emotional being that the way to harmony is using all the individual parts [when healthy] to achieve these aims.
- A philosophy of spiritual equality, which means an abhorrence of prejudice towards each other, i.e. the ability to overcome the self-righteous, attitude, [and teach that right thinking too.]
- To police the system to keep all in a healthy condition – and here we are back to the first question…
What do you think about the war in the Middle East? Taking the position we have adopted since the Nuremberg Trials, that nations do have the right to police each other, then we have to admit that we can’t do it without help from all parties, this means all the spiritual statesmen in the ‘hereafter’ as well as those on the earth plane. So, what do we pray for? All the levels of existence! - The physical,
- Mental,
- Emotional
- And spiritual
This is so that mankind may be one integrated whole – that the healing will come about of not just individuals but also countries, states, continents, and finally the whole world – that the human race may pass through the progression that our Lord designed this beautiful planet for, without destroying it in the process, if at all possible. Is this too idealistic? No, it’s not, because the microcosm of the individual is reflected in the greater whole, either knowingly or not, each striving towards a goal - to get back to the Creator through the progression of the spirit. What makes me so sure? Why, the inevitability of Gods purpose, which all the Greatest Masters have been telling us down the ages, to allow the human race to bring about its own salvation through admitting our needs, accepting help, and so the love of each other, both in this world and the next. ....................... Dear Lord, help the leaders of the countries and nations involved to look into their hearts and see their philosophy as you would have it - in the spiritual, truthful way. Amen.
