ARE YOU PSYCHIC?
We
all look quite normal - but some of us are a bit different - it just takes a
bit of time to develop this ability that opens so many doors, not just this one
ability in itself thats so interesting, but the door to mediumship too YOU can
chose!
Living
with this ability can be fun, and while the training for mediumship takes into
consideration that there will be changes as development progresses in the human
psyche, a natural psychic has to contend with the opening of the ability much
on their own, so here I have attempted to explain the whys and where fore’s a
bit....
The
definition of Psychism for our purposes here is the ability to feel the
sub-text of what is being said or felt - as in hidden meaning. Not
Mediumship, which is the ability of passing through the self, information from
the spirit world. [For clarification of this point see articles under
‘Mediumship']
If
a person is psychic, which most people are to a certain extent, then intuition
is mostly what it is called, and it’s a blessing. It saves us from
embarrassment or conversely makes us aware that we have caused it. No problem
there on a world scale. After becoming aware of this gift we can develop it
into a natural process without necessarily knowing what it is called - psychism.
Living
with psychism in oneself does take a bit of getting used to, if one is not born
with this state and so accept it from birth.
There
are choices
1.
Ignore it. No problems if you can do this, which I doubt.
2.
Ignore it out of the usual context of Classes or Church, i.e. not listen to it
although still able to hear it.
3.
Use it all the time. Being open to everything – very tiring.
4.
Switch it on and off. Takes a lot of practice.
5.
Living with this gift and not being able to turn if of. Difficult to live with
for all concerned; which one are you?
First
of course one needs the ability to know who has and hasn’t this
psychic awareness, I find that they are usually standing out from the group
because they seem to live in a world of their own, and have to have the social
niceties spelled out for them, no, I’m not joking. The
grounding factor here has not been worked on at all, this ‘head in the clouds
syndrome’ could be attributed to lack of brain – but is more often than not
only a preference to be unaffected by the discomfort of ones fellow man. For
the partner of one such person it must be difficult to live with, but they are
more often than not very much loved indeed for their innocence.
OTHERS who are aware: The
very aware psychic could be described as ‘street wise’ in the self-preservation
stakes. It’s
the motive behind using this advantage, that matters, ; i) selfish gain,
ii) selfless altruism. We
who are honest could not say is only ‘business’ as the mafia are well known for
saying in films!
Problems
don’t start when we detect through this gift what is in essence is an ‘untruth’
simply because social tactfulness is oil on the waters of life as we all know.
The problems start when we know that lies are evident to ourselves
but not to others.
First
in the work place: For example, the boss tells staff that jobs are safe only
for selfish gain, and to the workforce’s detriment. Management want them to
stay on knowing the money is not there to pay them. Psychic intuition is at
work but the doubt in us says…“I might be wrong, and don’t want to think that I
am being lied to deliberately after so many years here.” The
psychic gets out of there and into a new job quickly, and does their best to
convince friends to do the same, trusting their own gift. A moral dilemma that
is not hard to solve, but as we know this can be difficult to explain to ones
friends.
Secondly
what happens when a group of people who are all psychic get together? We would
think that psychism is a great advantage. Unfortunately this is not always so. The
organisation where power is on offer would seem to attract all kinds of people.
The voluntary organisation is particularly vulnerable to this problem. Who is
attracted to this kind of group? Concerning us more here is the two sorts of
psychic particularly attracted to the church organisation.
- Kind-hearted people,
who are most often in the psychically unaware group and so use the
psychic gifts at best spasmodically, are attracted to giving out their
loving help.
- The opposite group who
are attracted to the advantage of being amongst the unaware, as the fox
is attracted to the hen hut!
- The confident psychic
working for good. The unknown warrior!
“Leave it up to Spirit” is a common cry. “It is all the work
of Karma” is another. “It was meant to be!” yet another cry of so called
‘reason’.
What
is the philosophy behind this? It’s the philosophy of ‘So it is written,’ and
‘we can make no difference’ that of the cynic.
Our
psychic ability tells us where the problem lays!
Question:
What are the teachings of Spiritualism regarding this matter?
Answer:
We must use our free will to make a difference!
Question:
What are the Masters saying?
Answer:
We must use this life to learn our lessons!
But
what of this third group? The unknown warrior! Where does this hero find
training and help?
IN
SPIRITUALISM!
Not
the organisation per se, because we are just as open to the attack of
egotistical psychic as the next place, no, it’s through the PHILOSOPHY OF
SPIRITUALISM and living it out in our lives, that’s the difference, living
it out in our lives. Where do we get the courage? From Spirit guides
and helpers, training us to co-operate with them. How? Through gentle
contact – meditation and visualisation.
We
don’t have to be psychic to see where the selfish ego tripper is intruding into
our lives, do we? No. But to be a psychic and a spiritualist is a
responsibility that is too often ignored when fighting means making ones self
perhaps vulnerable. And here we have it. Vulnerability means putting oneself at
risk, it means fear might take hold, indeed it more often than not has already
a grip on us before the thoughts are grouping up for the challenge.
Spiritualism
takes away that fear, it gives the confidence to use the psychic gifts through
developing a link with the world that sees beyond where we are in our lives
just now, the spirit people have a greater view of what is happening simply by
being where they are, in spirit, and we know from the Masters, and also
writings of the ‘passed over’, through mediums chosen for this purpose, that
they are just waiting for us to join with them in the fight for good against
the ego. [See Reading for All / Book List “The Blue Island” & “Many
Mansions” etc...]
Conclusion
The
natural psychic needs to make a conscious choice to become more aware and
to do something about that awareness process, or find that a lack of direction
make life harder than it need to be, simple.
The
psychic must decide which party s/he is going to work for, i.e. the self or
others.
In finding
that other people use this psychic awareness to advantage, and seeing that they
too have made their choices another decision stands out.
Join
them or work against them! It is no enough to say "Live and let
live," spirit cannot do all the work for good on their own. This does not
mean you are going to 'war'. No, all you have to do is say your prayers and
spirit will act. They cannot act without this request, thats called taking away
our free-will.
It
behoves us all to join with the angels – not just in a metaphorical sense – but
a literal one too, to overcome our own egos as well as other peoples. Spirit
people come in love and light to only help where they can, and we must ask for
that help, [they cannot intrude - it takes away the freewill aspect.]
When
we waste this psychic gift and do nothing with it, it's a crying shame, but
that is free will as given.
When
we see the corruption of this gift into unfair advantage it is our best
opportunity to seek help from the ‘other side’.
“Ask
and it shall be given” was advice from the greatest of all Masters.
The only way is
foreword on the path of progression, and spiritualism shows us the way.
THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A PSYCHIC AND A MEDIUM
[This
article is repeated on the Medium section]
A Medium is in direct communication with people who have passed
into the spirit world. Mediumship is the ability to receive, recognise and
convey information from the worlds of spirit.
There are two forms of mediumship
PHYSICAL MEDIUMSHIP means that Spirit actually manifest upon the
earth. For obvious reasons, there will not be a demonstration of physical
mediumship through the course.
MENTAL MEDIUMSHIP - A very old saying amongst mediums is that you
have to be slightly mental to actually do it but this is working with the
spirit world via the mental processes. Some forms of this are
'Clairvoyance' means 'clear seeing'. Often the term is wrongly
used to only mean giving messages from spirit, but it has a much broader
meaning. It can mean clear seeing with the mind not only for spiritualist
mediums but for people involved in psychic work such as prediction, fortune
telling, crystal ball reading.
As we are looking at mediumship, we shall deal with just this
aspect. There are two levels of clairvoyance:
Subjective Clairvoyance - The dictionary meaning of 'subjective'
is 'proceeding from or belonging to the individual consciousness or perception;
imaginary, partial or distorted'. Therefore, in subjective clairvoyance, a
picture, or spirit person appears to the medium in their 'mind's eye' and this
can be in black and white or in colour.
Objective Clairvoyance - The dictionary meaning of 'objective' is
'external to the mind; actually existing; real. Therefore, in objective
clairvoyance, the vision appears to be in actual physical form. Many people
experience objective clairvoyance in their daily lives (GHOSTS), which is
evidence that mediumship is perfectly natural.
Clairaudience means 'clear hearing' and as with clairvoyance can
be subjective or objective. Subjective clairaudience is heard in the mind, and
the medium is mentally aware of the words being said. Objective clairaudience
is where the voice or sound is heard physically.
Clairsentience means 'clear feeling’ and the medium may feel or
sense emotions, pains and illnesses, personality and characteristics.
Clairsentience however uses the emotional psychic centers rather than the
mental psychic centers.
Inspiration is the use of the thought-flow from a spirit
intelligence to communicate with the material world. Inspiration can be of
several forms:
Inspirational art - The medium draws what he/she sees mentally.
Often the medium needs to be a good artist to put down on paper what is seen in
the 'mind's eye.
Inspirational music - The medium writes down music, which is
heard mentally.
Inspirational poetry - The medium is inspired by spirit to write
poetry.
Inspirational talk or address - The medium speaks, without having
first prepared a talk or address. Often this can be done in a trance state
A Psychic is someone who works on the material and physical level,
working with information available to everyone. This information may come from
another person's aura, from another's thoughts or from information available
from the earth's aura, such as in the case of water divining. A psychic can
'tune in' to these auric fields and pick up moods, emotions, illnesses,
thoughts, events that have occurred and perhaps events that will inevitably
happen.
Types of psychic work are:
Aura Reading - Reading another persons aura
Psychometry - Reading someone' s aura that has been transferred to
a flower or item of jewellery.
Palmistry - Why do you think a palmist holds your hand, to see the
lines or read your aura?
Tarot Reading - The cards retain your aura, and the proximity of
the reader to the client makes psyching relatively easy.
An aura surrounds every animate or inanimate thing on our planet,
the Earth too has its own aura, by psyching into these then:-
Dowsing - Finding water or minerals by remote sensing can be
explained, and also the finding of bodies lost or hidden. Although admittedly
this can be given from spirit
Crystal Gazing - Fortune telling by using crystal balls, crystals,
glass, water and other reflective materials.
Precognition - Foreseeing future events.
Psychokinesis - Mind over matter - moving objects by thought or
will power alone. (by influencing the aura in a way similar to magnets
attracting and repelling)
These are not mediumship they belong to the psychic and are
accomplished without spirit intervention.
The aura is intangible, but can be touched, it is mysterious, but
open. Unseen, but so easily felt, the aura is part of our soul's presence on
this world. The aura is the door to our past, indeed, for those who believe in
reincarnation, our entire past lives within it. It carries everything we have
done; who we are literally shines around us. When the aura is 'read' by a
developed psychic much can be revealed, dim memories almost lost are suddenly
found again. Many think that this is due to spirit intervention. Not so, it is
purely read from the aura.
While psychic work is just as valid as spirit linking, the two
should not be confused. A psychic link may develop into a communication with
spirit. A developed psychic is even capable of touching the spiritual aura,
letting the subject know more about themselves than they thought possible, and,
incidentally, amazing the psychic too.
Most mediums are also well-developed psychics, but they are also
clear where the information they are giving out is being obtained. An honest
medium admits when they are psyching, and as long as the difference is known,
psychic readings are of just as much value as a link with spirit.
In fact our psychic meetings are the best attended at the church.
The first, and probably the most important lesson, a psychic or medium learns
is honesty, with their audience, but most importantly with themselves.
End.
