I asked readers to share with us, and I had this lovely letter from Paul.
Dear Stella
I came into spiritualism about twenty years ago and visited our local church up in Yorkshire many times. When I entered spiritualism I didn't go in as a 'convert' nor was I preached at, I went into it because I found something that actually followed my own beliefs (as opposed to accepting the beliefs of the church). My beliefs stemmed from recollections from my, now late, mother and occurrences in my own home.
My mum told that when she was younger she made a 'pact' with her younger brother that whoever died first would come back to let the other know they were OK in the afterlife. My uncle was unfortunately killed a few years later in a car accident but he kept his promise and visited my mum a few months after his death.
She didn't actually see him face to face but his motorcycle crash helmet through the glass panel in the back door. Despite their pact my mum was frightened to open the door for him (something she had regretted all her life) and he disappeared.
While growing up I have ‘seen’ the occasional strange reflection, an object that wasn’t there when I turned around. When I started visiting spiritualist churches I began ‘seeing’ more often. An older lady that could have been a great grandmother, a young girl whose description matched my mum’s cousin and others. My children also began to experience visits during the night. My youngest daughter would sing quite merrily at the age of 4 in a ‘tongue’ I did not understand, and she can no longer recollect, and tell me she had been singing with African children. My youngest son had many strange faces appear at his bedside, or see unknown figures walking around his room at night. Sadly neither one persevered with the experiences nor the do the visits continue.
A busy life kept me away from church for many years; I originally started to develop as a healer but could not keep up with the development because of work and family commitments. Then came my divorce and I met, and eventually married, a woman who was a trained spiritual healer. She was somewhat disillusioned because her circle of contacts seemed to be more interested in the status of a healer rather than using their gift. She had also not visited church for a long time. A few years after we married, and after our respective families had become independent, we decided to leave the rush and push of modern life. I quit my job in science, we moved to Norfolk and trusted in spirit to help me find a job that I would settle in…. and they did.
Shortly after the move my father died and he came to me many times in my mind, and still does. Then quite by chance we came across an address for a spiritualist church in a neighbouring village and we have been going ever since. In the past year we have started attending a development circle and are finally beginning to hone the link with spirit. More recently my mother died and she has shown her presence; TV turning on by itself, some one moving around in her room, movement from ‘her’ chair.
I guess what I am trying to say (albeit long winded) is that I have always believed that death was not the end and it has been proved to me many times. What ever you want to do in your life spirit will always be there and when the time is right spirit will help you to succeed with almost anything you try.
I have seen you demonstrate mediumship at Snettisham and have read much of your website. God bless you Stella and may the spirits continue to help all of us.
Regards Paul,
P.S. I promised myself I would not turn this into a 'life story'. Difficult, isn't it?
Hi, I am constantly amazed how different we each are, the way we 'see' spirit, and yet the experiences lead us all to the same door....
If you feel you can share an experience with others of a like mind, send me YOUR 'tales of the unexpected'! I remember when I first got my 'puter how I hunted for other peoples thoughts on things spiritual - didn't you?Stella. |
