Enlightenment is a much used word.

The 'rising' or awakening spiritual energies are described in the ancient books as 'Kundalini Rising'

The much-discussed subject of the physical sexual function of kundalini, is as far from the intended spiritual meaning as it can be, because obviously physical and spiritual are opposite ends of the spectrum. This sexual aspect refers to only the second chakra [of the gonads / sexual organs] on the physical body level, whereas on the spiritual level we see spiritual awareness - paternal/maternal instinct - and all that means in self-sacrifice etc.

This is a most wonderful enlightenment experience, and is best dealt with by one who has been well prepared through all levels* of discipline. But where does if come from? From Spirit is the answer.

Let me just make a point here... our body's energy system is extremely powerful and must be taken seriously.

According to Hindu tradition, when you are spiritually awakened to the Divine and your Higher Self, the kundalini energy pierces each chakra from lowest Root to highest Crown. The person is then said to have “achieved enlightenment".

The journey of energy upward through the chakras is spoken of as "kundalini rising", and the power is greatest in the ‘one big rush’ of all chakras opening together in one single experience. The whole spectrum of experience here is on all the levels * By this I mean physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.

Training is essential, and full enlightenment might take many lifetimes to reach. Also the support group is essential for the after-effects can be quite alarming in some cases!

This one experience is not all there is to achieving this beautiful state called 'enlightenment'. It might take many lifetimes to open up all we have to offer our fellow travellers on the same path of progress.

Yoga teaches the student to bring the breath to the bodies central channel, which goes up through the centre of the spine. It is said that the goal of yoga is to awaken the kundalini to rise up the spine, awakening each chakra in turn. When only the lower level physical experience is induced without the necessary restraints there is great danger. It has been known for madness to lie there.

The kundalini is aroused and rises through the chakras to the crown where it triggers the pineal and pituitary glands inside the skull. It causes a rush of energy and a brilliant experience of cosmic consciousness often described as seeing the ‘Pure White Light’ and having a sense of total identity with ‘All That Is’. [The chakra in the solar plexus is the Universal awareness one. ]

The experience of being ‘born again’ in the Christian system of belief is also described like this, and that one ‘floats on air’ for days. It is the discovery and appreciation of our Higher Self and finding the God within us that is the ultimate goal of the journey we have given the name of kundalini to.

These two same ductless glands of the endocrine system [in the skull] are crucial in the Clairvoyance function. I leave it to your imagination what the results of any glandular malfunctioning might be through deliberate misuse.

The spiritualist would say this kundalini experience can and does happen quite naturally with discipline training awareness and development. After all, what is the temporary use of a powerful experience if only for the moment? It’s what we do with the lasting knowledge / enlightenment that is important to our own progression in both this world and beyond the veil.

I’ve heard recently of a person who had the kundalini experience in a public place, I cannot imagine what had been happening to her system to induce this at such an inappropriate place and time. The only good place can be in meditation and some sort of privacy. I speculate that an artificial induction was at work there, and make the point that a lesson is to be learnt here.

Personally I was with my teacher in a sanctuary at this wonderful time and have always been grateful for that, but this happening in a shop implies that there is no control over the function of the opening of the kundalini experience, so I speculate that what happened was perhaps miss-named.

In the opening of the spiritual body each chakra flowers in a natural way according to the individual need. It is essential to begin at the human / material / base, and slowly allow each chakra to open. The pivotal point is the heart and it’s functions, again, on all levels. *

If the heart is not fully awakened and functional into the compassion and humility state, all else is viewed in a perverted manner through the ego, and thus is corrupted. Without the heart’s correct function the way is not into enlightenment, and here the danger lies.

After the heart comes next the throat chakra, this begins to operate the Clairvoyance, and so the forehead follows to complete the ‘clairs’ and last of all the crown chakra connects to the spirit world.

Who might experience this? The spiritual path is many and varied, and all who travel on it are open to this experience but only if they so wish.

For example, through the healing process there are many things that take place we cannot explain, both to the patient and the healer. The healer is not just an appendage to the process, the energies go through and must change the medium in again, unknown ways.

Also when any medium is  in an altered state, so open to spirit 'vibrations', s/he is used as a 'conductor' and 'transformer' of the spiritual energies. But development and awareness does not come automatically, no, it has to come through the specific request.

The paths through the body are many and varied, at the moment I am studying for exams in acupuncture and Chinese medicine and know that the 600 or more points on the many meridian lines are all having a particular function!

When we are completely developed in consciousness and are fully awakened to our souls purpose, we might finally be free from the cycle of re-birth and death.

Jesus said "He that overcomes, I will make a pillar in the Temple of my God, and he shall go out then no more."

* By ‘all the levels’ of existence it is meant from physical through the mental/emotional to spiritual and upwards to celestial.
