How I went for healing and found a husband!
I met my husband Don in the spiritualist church, where I went for healing after an operation that upset my system very badly.
When I had asked the church secretary for healing in an evening rather than the day time Don was the only person available … but then after a week or two the president said that because Don was no longer registered with that church [he’d been away] it was more than his ‘jobs-worth’ to allow me to have healing from him …!
So Don, knowing more about healing than most people, said that we could sit next to each other during the usual evening service, and he would give healing anyway, so I would talk to him and his daughter after the service, and we all became friends.
To go back a bit here ….I had been divorced for years and the unhappy events made me very cautious indeed.
But during the time after that particular operation, I had talked to spirit and asked if I would ever be happily married in this lifetime, and they said that I would – so naturally I wanted to know ‘when?’ The answer came back it would not be for two years, the obvious question then was ‘why?’ “He is grieving‿ Well, then I thought he had to be a widower...umm.
We’re all the same aren’t we? Jump right in and make up our own theories! I found out later he had been divorced for many years, so then I was thinking that spirit had got it all wrong … no!
So, when we talked later, I plucked up the courage to ask him who had died that he grieved for, and he replied - his parents. Ha! They are never wrong! The Spirit guides and helpers were wise enough to know that we must both be ready for a relationship, and so in time our two small families became one big one.
Spiritualism is a way of life for many people and there are spiritualists and psychics in my family, although we attended other churches as many people do, and I didn't come into the whole thing till later in my life [40s].
But ... even before I started training as a Healer, Speaker and Demonstrator ... I was reminded by spirit through quite a few mediums (sitting in different churches,) that I'd worked for the spirit friends many times over the years.
I was reminded because I had said "no" to speakers who came to me, because I simply hadn’t realised that healing was what I had been actually doing! It seems a bit silly of me now - I was using prayer, visualisation and meditation, for what I later found was called 'absent healing'.
For most of my teen-age years I had been attracted to the Quaker church and when I finally found my way there it was to learn to visualise and meditate, the service is an hour of silence when anyone inspired may stand and speak from the heart.
But of course, healing being the reason I first walked into a Spiritualist Church, naturally, it was the first subject I started to study and take exams in through the SNU.
It takes at least three years to become an Approved Healer, and as long again to be a Speaker / Demonstrator. Of course you don't have to do all the courses, for example anatomy for the healing part can come a bit later on, I did that exam to be more aware when looking at patients on the clairvoyant level. [I thought that everyone could use clairvoyance to 'see' into the body of a patient! ]
In fact I got the study 'bug'!
It's good to have a working knowledge of the Law and Ethics in any job when dealing with the general public, I am constantly worried by the naivety of folks when they first enquire about becoming a healer in this litigious age - plonking your hands on a person and thinking in a particular way is NOT what it’s all about! The responsibilities are very serious, moral and legal issues are at stake here.
I know that we all never stop learning, but if a person is at a stage in their lives where they think they need a rest, that's fine. Look for a book that about whatever takes your interest in the Spiritualism field. The ways to learn are many, and on different levels of consciousness too.
We are now living in Norfolk, this is a new phase in our lives; as I look back, I notice that the different stages of my life are indeed grouped into the 'seven year development changes' on the path of progression that are described in the many books of Ancient Healing.
This way of calculating is also in the books of Chinese Medicine, this I find fascinating!
Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine is the subject I am now studying.
Perhaps you too can find interesting observations when you think back to when you were 7 yrs old ...14 yrs ... 21 ... 28 ... 35 ... 42 ...49 ... 56 and so on. 4,000 years of observations from the Chinese Masters make a lot of information accumulated… umm … will it all fit into two years study?
What advice would I give to anyone starting out on this adventure called Spiritualism?
Make friends with your guides and helpers, they are real people and it takes time in any world to build up a friendship based on trust, they love you beyond your greatest imaginings … this I know for sure.
Love and peace,
Stella.
This is about how my husband Don got his first ‘proof’.
Aunty Polly lived a few doors down from his mother when she was about 14 years old, and Don’s mother died when she was about 85
She came through a spiritualist clairvoyant medium to ‘talk’ to him in a church service, and said that for his own special proof of the existence of spirit he should ask his sister about “California Poppy”. He had to go round later to his sister and tell her this, as she did not go to spiritualist churches at that time.
Being a man he did not know what a ‘California Poppy’ actually was, [a perfume from ‘way back then’,] his sister told him that this perfume was in her hand when aunty Polly walked into the room and bumped the door into her hand holding the open bottle – it went all over her brand new coat! The fragrance lasted years, even after the coat was passed on to a friend!
This is the best proof from a spiritualist medium, because Don had to go and ask somebody about the evidence, this means that only the spirit person and the witness to the incident could possibly know about it. No ‘reading’ the subjects aura there!
Another story he likes to tell is this; he was walking up the steps to Woolworth’s one day in the nineteen-sixties and a Medium he knew said a quick 'hello' and passed on, then she called him back a moment, and quite out of the blue said "You will marry again, and the last years of your life will be the happiest." With that, not waiting for a reply she carried on her way.
Don was not a little shocked at this; his circumstances were not in the least bit favouring that scenario! Life bringing up a child on your own is not easy.
It was 30 years later in 1996 that we met and married two years after. Although Don has been unwell this last couple of years he says that yes, these are the happiest times he has ever known…ah … spirit do things in their own time…. Don’t they?
