HEALING BOOKS TO READ
For students of SPIRITUALISM by Stella Rodgers C.S.N.U
This list has been devised on the
request of my students. I see it also for pleasure and not just for
teaching purposes, and for self-awareness / development too, so if
you are interested in finding out more and don't know where to start,
then just close your eyes, think of the spirit world, and say inside
your head, "Spirit friends please show me where to begin." And then read the list, OK? In book shops it works just as well too!
IBSN number after the title usually means its still in print, but I can't always find the numbers so they are bought as antiques on the 'Alibris' or 'Cygnus' web site - where there is a section of ‘find by author / title’, and there are many others sites; if there is any difficulty at your nearest decent bookshop.
Another way to find a book on any subject is to go onto the google site and type in "Books for Dummies" ...!
Note from Stella: Problems with the typo when updating the site - sorry!
1. “Harry Edwards" the life story of the greatest healer since the time of Christ, by Ramus Branch. Healer Publishing Co Ltd, Burrows Lea, Shere, Guilford Surry, where the sanctuary is located too.
2. Other books by this wonderful man, “The Healing Intelligence" “Spiritualist Healing, A Guide To Understanding And Practice" “The science of Spiritual Healing" “The Healing Touch." as above.
3. "Hands of light" ISBN 0 553 05302 7 - and “ Light Emerging" ISBN 0 553 35456 6 – Both these books are ‘bibles’ for the beginner on the journey of exploration into healing, as you would expect the second follows on from the first, but it’s important to get them the right way around!
4. “Health Healing And You" by Ursula Roberts. Aquarian Press. I liked this book because it helps to understand the theory of how we can bring onto the physical body our own illnesses.
5. “The Healing Touch" Maurice H Tester. First printed 1970. SBN 257 65221 3. Personal experience of his own healing and what followed to change his life. For the healer and the layman alike.
6. “When a child Dies" by Sylvia Barbanell. The Spiritual Press, 23 Great Queen St, London WC2. First Press 1942. VERY OLD so no IBSN number - and also “When Your Animal Dies" ditto.
7. “The Healing Power of Mind" by Tulku Thondup printed by Penguin Books: interesting to read the viewpoint of other beliefs that we as spiritualists also agree with to a great extent.
8. “Aura’s and colours" by Paul Lambillion 2001 Ref: 07171 3232 3.Gateway. ISBN 0 7171 3232 3. To do with healing methods and treating the self.
9. “Anyone can dowse for better health" Arthur Bailey. ISBN 0572 02461 4. A book on Psychic dowsing made simple with fascinating exercises to do at home in your own garden, not just a novelty, but also a serious book with implications.
10. Handbook Bailey Flower Essences. ISBN 0 9536021 1 7. A Textbook to assist in spiritual healing and diagnosis through the use of the Pendulum.
11. “The etheric double" A. E. Powell ISBN 0 8356 0075 0. Fascinating book from the Theosophical Classics Series.
12. “Mary Baker Eddy" Her communications from beyond the grave to Ursula Roberts and Harold Horwood. Psychic Press 1948. Theosophy is a whole subject in itself to be studied. This lady is very important in the Theosophy Movement, and this book is a revelation. Spiritualism and Theosophy parted company years ago and so this book stirred up a whole mass of trouble at the time.
13. “Mysticism" Evelyn Underhill. ISBN 0525470735. [Subtitled “A study in the Nature and Development of Man’s Spiritual Consciousness." ] This might be a bit heavy for the beginner!
14. “Spiritualism and Reincarnation" by Peter Matthews. ISBN 1 898680 10 8. This is one of my examination tutors in the SNU education programme and I have great respect for him.
15. “The Art of Happiness" His Highness DALI LAMA ISBN 0 340 75015 4. Words fail me to describe His Highness!
16. “The Dali Lama’s Book of Wisdom" - as above - ISBN 0 71260457X.
17. “Favourite Prayers" compilation book ISBN 0 8264 5191 8. A non-denomination book useful for the circle ‘prayer wheel’, good examples for the beginner.
18. “The Best of My Belief" J Whitbourn ISBN 0 281 05022 8. A non-religious book for the ‘unsure where they stand on religion’ people.
19. NEW 2005: “Your Healing Power" Jack Angelo A less technical book of easy to read helpful information. First printed in 1994: ISBN 0-7499-1326-6 PB.
Well thats it, I do hope you will let me know of any other books you would like to add to the list, email contact is on the MAIN MENU - thanks.
Happy reading !
