What
is a Philosophy Talk?
The experienced Medium Speaker of
philosophy is noticeable by their influence from the spirit entity, or
inspiration, or ‘overshadowing’. This might be by a spirit teacher or
master who will use the knowledge in the mediums mind and take that one step
further on to teach.
The ‘Philosophy’ is a talk about an
aspect of spiritualism. Some speakers just waffle on about whatever comes into
their minds, this can be interesting of course and if it holds the attention
maybe it is inspired – but is not mediumship, and probably not from spirit
either.
The spirit doing the influencing in
a service, can be seen by other mediums in the congregation to move closer into
the aura of the demonstrator, sometimes the change over from one spirit to
another can be observed too. I’ve been blessed with this information,
it’s nice to know ones friends are there, and even which ones!
At first when I started to go out to
take church services I was not sure about this aspect, I always made a plan,
then as time went on I realised that spirit were letting me prepare for my own
confidence’s sake and used the preparation I had done not at all!
We are trained by the earthly
teachers [I’m thinking of the SNU training programme here] to use the subject
of the reading or maybe a hymn as a starting point, or perhaps one of the seven
principles, I do this for the ‘kick off’ … and then spirit ‘click’ in and say what
they know we need most, at that time.
The nice thing about this way of
doing things that spirit have developed for us all, is that whatever we say in
this part of the service someone usually says afterwards that it must have been
just for them…! More than one person saying this is not as surprising as it
might seem, because we all hear what we need when spirit speak to us.
What is the point of all this? Why,
how else can a spirit teacher or master communicate as they wish for the
purpose of leading us towards the progression that they wish for us? We still
have the communication for teaching through the circle, although that is a
closed circle and not for general use- but for a spirit to have the opportunity
to address a congregation there is no other way.
In the ‘old days’ a speaker was not
expected to give clairvoyance and philosophical teaching, there would be two
mediums each specialising. It
might be hard for us to imagine that four thousand people would fill a hall
just to hear inspirational mediumship directly from the spirit world, but 50
years ago this was quite usual.
Sociological changes have brought us
knowledge through learning and the media, but we have not yet developed the
know-how to assist our friends in the spiritual world to use this method.
Indeed, we have next to NO access
for our serious spiritual understandings to be listened to that are not
blessed by the Orthodox Church, or for that matter are not part of the
entertainment industry - Shame on us.
Although some might say the entertainment aspect
is mocking us - perhaps some comedy shows get a cheap
laugh - but don't forget that it isn't how people become interested, the
point is that they do!
So, what should we look out for in a
service that is truly a spiritual service?
Sundays is the best day to attend if
the ‘thinking part’ is going to be exercised a bit. Philosophy is the
part that makes us what we are - so go on a Sunday to listen, we are all
spirits that wish to evolve as individuals and have control of our destiny.
I have explained to you how the
philosophy part should work, and you will see that some mediums have
only to start to speak and you will know they are going to inspire, others will
not have heard about spirit influence other than messages - stick at it
and you will be inspired too - and if you find a lack of inspirational
mediums in your area, then tell the church secretary what you think, only if
you tell them will they know!
This philosophy part is a difficult
task that takes some courage, but I pray for all mediums to become
communicators, not just reps for the telecom aspect!
The thinking folks attend Sundays,
so join them and find out that you too can be inspired - go on – I dare you!

On a personal note: In my work as an Acupuncturist and Hypnotherapist at first I
used to approach the links between the spirit and the flesh in a round about
way, then I realised that being subtle in that regard only wasted time, and I
wanted to get on with the healing. So now I come straight out with it and tell
my patients this, you are made up of four parts; body and spirit, mind and
emotion and they all have an important part to play and you just cant separate
them no matter how hard you try. And you must not ignore this fact either.
I found that out the hard way: I lost two stone in two
months after a bad emotional shock, and still kept telling myself that I was
just fine. It was only after another shock, this time to my mind – the doctor
asking me who was going to look after my children after I’d died in a few weeks
– that I came out of that state.
Another example: I broke my ankle; this stopped me from
getting around for a while. Then
dislocated the other foot, and that kept me off my feet for another while.
Guess what happened then? Then I dislocated my broken foot. Do you think that
someone was trying to tell me something? Perhaps I needed to slow down and look
about me for a while and reassess my life?
The point is that our physical and emotional are connected
and we can’t think our way out of it mentally, it won’t work. It’s the
spiritual part of us that has to be allowed to open up and do its job.
This is fundamental to the human race, we are all the same,
let us understand this about ourselves please.
If we acknowledge that we are all made this way, our
brothers and sisters, our neighbours, who are also our brothers and sisters in
spirit terms, are all made this way too. Then how can we sit in judgment on
them, when they are only flogging along the human path just as we are, and struggling with
the same 'human condition' too.
How can we sit in judgment when someone shouts out in
frustration, acts inconsiderate, hits out in anger, takes up a gun? How can we
say, “They shouldn’t do that” when we haven’t walked in their shoes?
No, we can’t sit in judgment if we understand that we are
all Gods children, and we all are on the same path of learning. So let us
give our friends and neighbours more tolerance no matter which country they
live in.
Dear Lord, help us to understand that nothing happens without your
knowledge, and all is within Your eternal plan. Amen.
