The CONSCIENCE
Did you know that bears in some countries are kept in tiny cages till they
die, just for the extracting of bile from their stomachs? “Forgive them Father
for they know not what they do." Comes to mind here. Caring about
these things varies an awful lot from country to country / person to person
don’t you find? Why is this? Respect for others only comes with respect to the
self. The value of life is a balance that does not allow for arrogance!
The Garden of Eden was an allegory of the ‘fall’ of man into ‘sin’. What do
we as spiritualists think of this? How do we find this fits into our adopted
principals? When innocence / ignorance was replaced by
discernment/self-consciousness. The ability to chose between selfish and not
selfish, to see what is right and wrong, personal responsibility came into
being.
But we can ignore this innate inbuilt thing that is always there to guide
us, our conscience, and remain very limited, brutish and ignorant. The
law of necessity demands evolution of all mankind, and Nature insists on
harmony so what does it do? It uses a very demanding way of getting the
attention of the subject. Pain.
Trials and tribulations not only strengthen the ability to see other peoples
suffering; they also draw people together in a common understanding, that of
needing and helping, this causes the awakening awareness of human [kind] -ness
and a reverence for life and common identity, which is the root of all God’s
word.
How many aeons has it taken for this awareness to get to the present day
ability/desire, to stop prejudice and cruelty, against people and animals, the
pollution of the land, trees and indeed the earth itself. The way we
judge a civilisation is through its attitude to the sanctity of life.
If only we could see these lessons more clearly, and understand that
individual self-consciousness.
Our conscience and the ability to use it is a divine gift, and if we used
that spirit consciousness / awareness part of us more readily by example, more
people would be enthusiastic about cherishing and nurturing the growth of this
gift.
The light of wisdom can only illuminate a mind when the grime of selfishness
is rubbed away from the lower nature. Only then will compassion burn brightly,
only then will the poor bears be released from their cages.
Now go to the next article that catches your interest - first asking for
guidance from the spirit helpers of course!
End.
