THE HEALING SERVICE – WHAT TO EXPECT
ON ARRIVAL
You will notice that the chairs are arranged in a pattern that might be a little different, with a few chairs at the front of the room for each person who would like healing today, one for each healer.
The service starts with a prayer of devotion and a hymn, then the healing book is read out and a minute or two silence while we all sit and think about absent friends, sending out healing thoughts to those who are perhaps unable to attend.
Then the leader will say something like ‘would those who require healing today please come forward and sit on the chairs at the front.
Some music that is quiet and relaxing may be played and all will be expected to sit without talking [so there aren’t distractions.]
1. Ask if you’re comfortable.
2. Tell you that you can remove outer clothing for comfort only if you wish.
3. Please remove your glasses for safety.
4. Ask have if you’ve had healing before.
5. Enquire if it’s OK to put their hands on you, and say that s/he will not touch if you are not comfortable with that.
6. Ask if you’d like a general healing or if you have a particular problem.
7. NO DETAILS need to be given if you do not wish, because whatever the problem spirit will direct the energies to the right area.
8. And add, “Now, you might feel warmth or cold in the area concerned, some people feel neither, we are all different."
9. S/he will explain how the end of the time allowed will be evident, for example by tapping lightly on the arm.
10. Then begin either by placing hands on or near the shoulders.
11. Perhaps they might add, if noticing that there is still a bit of worry or tension there, “Please relax and have a rest while spirit do all the work!‿
12. I usually say: “It helps if you can visualise a beautiful place, and sit looking at the view while the healing energies are acting.‿ - This is only to make the healing vibrations more able to work now. The effect is nicer, that’s all, you will receive healing now or later once you have asked for it!
The first time I received ‘hands-on’ healing I started to cry, the emotion of love from spirit was so strong. This in later years I found this to be quite common.
Each Church has their own way of doing things but follows a general pattern I describe here.
The SNU – Spiritualist National Union - service [Healing or other] is non-denominational in context, this means that anyone can be joining in regardless of where they are affiliated, and we have Christians and non Christians alike who also attend their own services.
End.
