Guides Controls and Helpers
A guide is a teacher whose function is to assist in a period of your life when a particular purpose is in hand; Beginners need special help, whereas the confident person may need others kinds of help, they come and go according to the purpose served.
A helper is an assistant to both the guide and medium, whose function is to add strength to the energies needed by all parties at any given time; they need to learn in order to progress too, a sort of ‘apprentice’.
Controls. Did you see the trick in the title? There are NO 'controls'! Your must understand that. Nobody, wherever they are, either spirit world or this, can control you. You are always in control of what ever you do. This paragraph was not put in for a joke - it is a serious subject, the Personal Responsibility Principle is always uppermost in the mind of the spirit Guides and Helpers.
We pray before every meeting for protection from the unwanted simple spirits that would cause any nuisance to us, and thank the guides and helpers for their protection at the end, for a good reason.
Yes, there are spirits of very 'low' understanding, who are also on the road to progression, that might like to influence the gullible into believing that they are speaking to a famous king or queen, but we use our common sense and test the spirits for genuineness at all times.
Any spirit cannot harm you ever; only YOU can give up yourself to the control of another. Remember 'like attracts like'. There is no such thing as 'possession' only obsession! The film industry has a lot to answer for in that department, so please do not take sensationalism seriously...OK?
I digressed a bit there...back to the main issue ...
Different functions and guides are matched. Whilst healing one group of qualified helpers may assist.
A personal note here; I have watched nurses and doctors walk around the hospital with spirit guides in attendance, and then - just to re-assure myself that what I am seeing is so - I once told a nurse who was there with her and she explained who it was, actually a relative of hers also a nurse!
Whist giving communications another group is needed. Usually the friends of the peoople trying to get through, this is because it takes a lot of energy to build up - for the opening of the 'doors' between the two worlds.
In Philosophy yet another group may be in attendance, this is why we feel changes in our abilities and senses through various phases of life.
On one occasion there were two mediums in a congregation who described to me what they had seen when I was giving the address. Afterwards at home I thought "That's nice!" And then remembered I had asked my spirit friends if what I felt myself was actually so - and of course they had confirmed it all.
BUT
Your doorkeeper who is a special friend s/he stays with you throughout your whole earthly incarnation. Another name for a doorkeeper is a guardian angel.
Ways of communicating to these special people is through the 'Clairs'; other ways are the use of symbolic pictures, memories of other things you might have seen [films] read [books].
We use the ‘silver screen’ [on Articles - Lessons] to hold the action of thought in neutral gear, as it were, this is in order that the spirit entity may put onto that screen what they are trying to communicate.
Energy is needed to do this, so power is built up on the psychic level for both parties to use. This is the main purpose of psychic energy; it is in itself only a means to an end.
One way we do this is to build up our own energy, join with our neighbor and make a circle, which we then fill it with the energy generated; this is then used by us all, in both the worlds Spirit and Physical. It's beautiful to watch. All the colours of the rainbow are there around us!
The importance of love and comradeship is essential because the energies will not be compatible otherwise. Love and emotions are also energies in themselves that help in other ways too, HEALING is one of these, and INSPIRED SPEECH is another, not just MESSAGES with the ‘Clairs’.
Inspired speech is when we are moved by the spirit to communicate using the thoughts and/or words they provide, another term for this is in the Spiritualist movement is Philosophy which is given in the Sunday Service, in other churches it might be called ‘preaching’, but a sermon is different because it is mans thoughts that have made it.
Whereas a sermon is usually written and then read, Philosophy is Mediumship directly from spirit most often using the method of ‘overshadowing’, here different depths of ‘impression’ are used.
To be IMPRESSED with a communication is when you feel an overwhelming urge to do a thing that you might not normally do, for example, knock on a neighbours door and ask if all is well, phone a friend, give a hug, etc… This is almost always spontaneously acted on and afterwards then considered!
How many opportunities have we missed not following our instincts? I know that I have lost things because I didn't listen to that 'inner' voice of caution - perhaps spirit inspired....
Overshadowing is where the spirit guide or helper is allowed - with permission from the medium - to enter his/her aura and influence the thought, and so the words spoken spontaneously.
It is quite common for the medium to be unaware after the communication of what has been said. At one time i realised this and then asked to please be made more aware what was being, said so now I remember most of it!
