VISITING THE SICK
What is a visiting healer? What does it mean? You are a healer when you care,
that's all. However if you are a visiting healer you need to know the regulations given by the associations.
The training through all the reputable
organisations will give special information that we all need, and on a
practical level it avoids all sorts of problems. Spiritual Healing is through
the Church and insurance is only within the church. All other healers should
have an insurance that is special to that profession.
This article is for the
spiritualist healer who is trained for the purpose, and I outline here the prospective students 'need-to-know' items, but read on my friend, you
may find that you could be interested in this valuable service ...
......................................................................
BEFORE a visit is booked it
needs to be established what, if any, cost might be reimbursed, expectation of
many visits without thought to this aspect might cause problems at a later
date.
It is taken for granted
that before a healer enters a patient's house or a hospital situation, he
should commend himself to God and ask for guidance and Spirit Power with
prayer.
When in the private
house the use of prayer is to be mindful of circumstances. For the hospital visits
permission must be gained from the staff on duty.
Visiting the sick is one of
the most important branches of any spiritual work. In addition to consciousness
of pain, very often there is a sense of loneliness because the patient is going
through a unique and individual experience. Therefore the healer's first words
should be of a comforting character, showing understanding of what the patient
is going through.
S/he should remember that
anyone weak or in pain may find it difficult to concentrate and, therefore, he
should assure the patient that God understands, and that their prayers,
even if of the only one word or two, do make contact with God.
An attitude of over-cheerfulness
on the part of the healer does not raise the spirits of the one who is
suffering. Therefore sympathy, linked with reassurance, will be found far more
helpful. It is never wise to be over-optimistic over what can be done by only one or
two visits.
Far better first to build
up a sense of friendship, and when confidence is won there is a looking
forward to other visits, and through this fact the mind is cheered, and good
results are shown on the physical side.
The healer should never
promise [and certinly not in the name of his guides] any cure, rather he should always
emphasise that these things are in God's Hands. And that every effort will be
made by himself and those in the Spirit World to bring any relief possible,
s/he should underline that prayers are always answered by God, but sometimes
not exactly in the way that we might have desired.
Only if appropriate should we remind the patient, or family and friends,
that all suffering has a beneficial effect upon the character - and
consequently upon the aura - and in those places where a cure may not be
possible, the power is passed on to the spiritual body and will be certainly
charged with beauty and strength.
This service is the most
selfless of all, and when we go out to the sick of heart perhaps only to lend a
shoulder to cry on, or say not a word but just listen, then a healer is what
you are, go with God my friend. Amen.
WHEN ARRIVING AT THE BEDSIDE:
1. The introductions - on
the first visit explaining who you are and who has suggested your visit, if
that person is not with you. On the second visit do not take for granted they
will remember who you are. Introduce yourself again, and wait to see if they
say they comment.
2. Suggest to the patient what you would like to do. E.g. “I would
like to hold your hand with your permission.”
Or perhaps, “… just sit with you for a while.”
3. Explain what might
occur. E.g. any warmness or tingling about the body, or similar, and always add
that not everyone gets this.
4. Tell the patient if you
are going to chat while healing, or if you would like to just close your eyes /
meditate. It is up to you just how you do your healing, but do just let the
person know so that they feel part of the process, and not at a loss as to what
is going on!
5. When you feel that the
visit has accomplished the purpose, indicate this by perhaps standing up and
making your farewell.
6. Prayer might be an
option if the patient gives permission. Always take something to read in this
department and leave it for a gift where possible. A single sheet is enough.
ANY INFORMATION regarding
the welfare of the patient is confidential between you and your guides. You may
not under any circumstances give advice or share information with the patient.
Directing the healing is the function of the spirit guides, and if the patient
comments on the process it is beholden to the healer to give credit to the
guides.
If a clairvoyant ‘reading’
is given or any information of this nature is ‘picked up’, this indicates that
the energies are not directed to the healing purpose. As far as the medium is
concerned giving is the opposite of receiving – the healing energies pass
through you from the spirit realms. Your energies must be directed to the
I do not recommend any
comments whatsoever, nor do the training manuals, due to misunderstandings
being so easy in difficult circumstances, such as the stress of illness.
Prayer Suggestion 1.
"LOVING Father, we
know that You are always ready to give, so that Your children may be helped and
strengthened as they take their way through this earth-life.
We realise that pain and
suffering come not from You, but through the conditions of physical life, and
we know that it is Your will that happiness and health shall be the portion of
these Your children.
Therefore we ask that the
Spirit strength [or Christ-Presence] may be granted to us, and that this
suffering child of Yours may feel something of the Divine Power which can
soothe the heart and mind, and bring greater strength to the body.
Please grant that it may be
possible for healers to become pure channels through which the healing power
can flow and, above all, that the sufferers may be able to see beyond the pain
to the spiritual benefits built up by patience and endurance. Amen"
Suggestion 2
FATHER, in the silence we
await Your blessing. We know that Your love ever surrounds us, and that by our
thoughts and prayers we can draw even closer the Angelic Ministry and that
healing power which they bring to us…
3. Prayer for a sick
child
"GENTLE JESUS, meek
and mild, look upon this little child.
O SAVIOUR Christ, we come
to You in faith and we ask that You wilt draw near and pour down Your healing
blessings upon this little child.
Grant that s/he may
remember that You are the Friend of little children, and the bright Angels are
near to him/her by night as well as by day.
O LOVING Father we pray
that Divine Power may be given to minister and to heal this child.
O Lord, we come to You in
faith and we ask that You wilt draw near and pour down Your healing blessings
upon this little one. Grant that s/he may remember that You are the Friend of
little children, and the bright Angels are near to him/her by night as well as
by day. Amen."
4. Closing prayer
"LOVING Father, we
thank You for all the blessings that You have poured on us. Grant that through
the day and through the night Thy Ministering Angels may guard and protect this
Your child, and if it be You Will restore him/her to health of mind and body.
May s/he be conscious of Your loving care, and [may the Healing Presence of our
Lord Jesus Christ] bring him joy and comfort and peace. Amen."
